Critical Ventures Invests in Humanos, the Human Authorization Layer for the Age of AI

Lisbon (Portugal) — 28 September 2026 — Critical Ventures is proud to announce our investment in Humanos, a Lisbon-based startup building the infrastructure that keeps humans in the loop when AI systems make decisions that matter. As AI agents move from advisory roles to autonomous execution, enterprises face a question that identity management alone cannot answer: who authorized the AI to take that specific action? Humanos was built to answer that — cleanly, verifiably, and at scale.

The product is straightforward to explain and genuinely hard to build. Before any AI system executes a sensitive action — approving a payment, signing off a clinical decision, adjudicating an insurance claim — Humanos intercepts the workflow, routes it to the right human for explicit approval, and issues a cryptographically signed mandate stored on an immutable audit ledger.
